UFC 101 Results

Monday, August 10th, 2009

ufc_logoWell, you are all probably saying to yourselves “Hey Damen, I thought you were supposed to be AT UFC 101.  Why havent you posted up the results yet?”  The answer is… I was lazy.  I was trying to post results live via twitter from my phone (you ARE following me on twitter, right?), but unfortunately it stopped working pretty early on.  Then with the driving home from Philly and whatnot, well, I wound up a little late as you can all see.  Sorry about that!  Anyhow, here are the results:

Lennox beats Villefort with a TKO in Round 3

Sotiropoulos beats Roop with a submission in Round 2

Riddle beats Cramer with a unanimous decision

Sakara beats Leites with a split decision

Howard beats McCrory with a split decision

Pellegrino beats Neer with a unanimous decision

Almeida beats Grove with a unanimous decision

Hendricks beats Sadollah with a TKO in Round 1

Riley beats Nelson with a unanimous decision

Silva beats Griffin with a KO in Round 1

Penn beats Florian with a submission in Round 4

UFC 100 Results

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

ufc_logoLast night was UFC 100, and given the special nature of the event I am going to do things a little bit differently.  Yes, I am still going to post up the results, but this time I am going to add a very small amount of commentary to go with the main card fights.  Now, for the results:

Gugerty beats Grice with a submission in Round 1.

Lawlor beats Dollaway with a submission in Round 1.

Kim beats Grant with a unanimous decision.

Jones beats O’Brien with a submission in Round 2.

Miller beats Danzig with a unanimous decision.

Coleman beats Bonnar with a unanimous decision.

Akiyama beats Belcher with a split decision – This fight was interesting.  I thought Akiyama clearly dominated the match, but apparently not all of the judges agreed.  This was a fantastic fight.

Henderson beats Bisping with a KO in Round 2 – I was really disappointed with this fight.  I was rooting for Bisping, but he spent the whole fight trying to escape Henderson, and he just didnt seem prepared.

St Pierre beats Alves with a unanimous decision – This was not a fight.  GSP demonstrated that he could take Alves down at any time he wanted.  All Alves could do was prevent the submissions, but he had no chance of winning at any time.

Lesnar beats Mir with a TKO in Round 2 – Mir demonstrated in this fight that he doesnt have the capacity to learn/adapt to the fight.  In the first round, he let Lesnar ground and pound him viciously.  In the second round, he did the exact same thing.  His loss was no surprise.

Fitch beats Thiago with a unanimous decision – This was the worst fight of the night.  There was effectively no striking, and even during the grappling there was hardly any action.
