Quick Update

I am sorry that I have not posted in a long while!  The second day of class most of the guys were sick.  That then took me out of work and class for a week and a half.  When I was finally better and ready to go back to class it felt like I was starting all over again, but I still love going and have loads of fun.  I am now taking Jiu Jitsu classes on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and if there is an open mat on Sundays I will go to that too.

Product Review: Bowflex Revolution

I’ve said time and time again that fitness is a very important part of the life of any serious martial artist.  With that in mind, a few months ago I started looking into some proper exercise equipment for the house.  Let’s face it – most people dont get to the gym as much as they should, and having something at home can be very handy (so long as the problem is one of time, and not one of motivation).  In the end, I settled on what you see here: the Bowflex Revolution.  We’ve all seen the ads on TV, but that doesnt prove anything.  What everyone wants to know is whether or not it is any good.  Well, it has been a few months and so I think I’m ready to give it my verdict.

YAY! For results

For the last month or two… I really cannot remember exactly when I started to do this every morning; I have been weight lifting with our bowflex.  I read through the book and found that it was too confusing and took a few exercises and made them my own.  There are 4 exercises I took from the book, and modified a bit, and then there are 3 I just kind of made up.  I started with 10 lbs on each side and have added 5 lbs on each side this weekend.

Damen’s Martial Arts Workout

One thing that every martial artist wants is to stay in good shape.  It doesnt matter they are an instructor, a student, an actor, or a fighter.  That said, just because the need and desire to stay in shape exists doesnt make it easy – even for martial artists.  Putting together a good workout routine, for when not in class or specifically in training, can be extremely challenging.  Is weight lifting a good idea?  What about cardio?  There are a lot of questions that need answering.  Thankfully, I’m here to help.
